  • Email virus crap again

there seems to be something going around lately, hijacked email with someone elses return address forged in it, etc.

Its a good time to update your virus dictionary, or buy a good virus scanner like Norton or McAfee or others and get it installed.

      Security Bulletin - Virus Alert

      W32.Novarg.A@mm, W32/Mydoom@MM or WORM_MIMAIL.R

This is a mass-mailing worm that arrives as an attachment in e-mail with the file extension .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip.

It's coming through Topica. I have just received "Doc.Zip" from their "unsubscribe" function.

For everyone's reference, the dodgy attachments are titled one of the following:

        Error
        HELLO
        Hi
        Mail Delivery System
        Mail Transaction Failed
        Server Report
        Status

and may contain a file called Doc.zip or readme.zip or doc.pif or similar. If in doubt, delete it, and then remove it from your "deleted items" folder.

I started getting them yesterday. Like Robert said, the first one I received had "Mail Delivery System" in the subject line. Didn't appear to be from anything I had sent so it was quickly deleted.

I have gotten several of them like that Craig.I never opened them and they were deleted without being opened.I never open junk mail or mail from any unknown address.
I am not the smartest computer user out here, how would I know if the virus has infected my computer?

Best bet is to have good anti-virus software installed on your computer. I've had good luck with Norton, and have it installed on all the computers at the office as well.
