    Re: Impression on VG's

John, I agree. If and when I ever do a recover, VG's will not be installed. Not enough advantages for the cost and time.

      Re: Impression on VG's

First of all I would like to say Dusty well said.

I personally do not care how you land wheels or three point I had an instructor with 30,000 hours the majority of which was in taildraggers . he always said , just land the plane . I don't care , whatever makes you comfortable he would never state an opinion, one way or another .

What he would say is that at some point the plane is going to transition from a flying machine to a ground machine . and if you keep the plane lined up on the runway . it doesn't matter whether you land it three point or on the wheels you just can't land sideways.

Personally , he taught me both ways , and I personally three-point all the time , no matter what, I just know that when the yoke is in my belly . we're not going to fly anymore, that's not saying I might not flip over or get blown off the runway but at least I will not be flying in the process.

As far as flying with vG's I have said it before . I feel it is the best investment . I have put in my airplane . it has lowered the stall speed around three maybe 4 miles an hour . but more importantly , my plane doesn't stall anymore , at least in the same way . now it mostly just mushes down , and I still have full aileron authority . all the way through , and that is something that I never had before.

Before my F19 would stall and there'd be a moment of lost control and now with the vgs I am not experiencing that loss of control.

I just don't understand why anybody would not want more control of their aircraft, if I remember Boeing 737s have vg on them of course they all have flaps to and one of the reasons for the flaps is to land at the slowest speed possible and probably the vg on a 737s helped to control air over the wing. Anyway , the safest landing is the slowest landing the matter what you fly, and having control during a stall at the very least is nothing but an excellent safety enhancement.
