I am restoring a 1940 BL65,which has wooden floor boards, and my flying BC12D, born in Feb 1946, also has wooden floor boards. In what time did the factory change to (maybe metal) floors. I have a friend restoring a 1946 T-craft, and his I.A. says he can't install wooden floors, because he has never seen a T-craft with with wooden floors. Would this be a safety issue or what?

Re: floorboards
And on top of the vibration issue, wood looks soooo.. much cooler. I built a set of floor panels from 1/4 inch red oak furniture grade plywood, and tung oiled them. Then I screwed brass heel plates on them, and they look fantastic. Next, I'm going to furniture glue and press birdseye maple veneer onto 1/8 inch ply for the inside door panels, rear panel, and instrument panel.
I'm thinking about taking out the headliner because my head rubs against it the way I have the seat set up, and am thinking about replacing the headliner with the same birdseye maple fastened directly to the fuselage tubing over my head. I would also do the same with the two sides to cover where the wings join the fuselage. When it's all done, the inside of the plane will not look stock, but it will look beautiful. Brie
