tail wheel weight

Folks: This is my first post.

We have a Talyorcraft BC12D, 1946. Question?? Either I am getting weaker or the weight of the tail wheel is getting heavier. Perhaps because of previous repairs prior to ownership. Can anyone tell me the weight on tail wheel, tail down configuration?

Of the four BC12D's I've weighed recently, the weight varies between 49 and 65 lbs.

Mine is closer to 75!!!!! But that was full fuel. I was too lazy to empty it. I'm sure that the battery way back in the luggage compartment doesn't help. Makes it a real PAIN in my back to pick it up.

But, Richard, yours is not a standard BC12D...more like a Harer/Gilberti Model 19
