  • Repairs to the tailfeathers - W&B?

I was discussing potential repairs to my tailfeathers involving adding finger straps, splices, and gussets in various places.

Because of the long lever arm, he warned me that I should get a feeling for what I was potentially doing to the W&B.

Is this a real concern? - Mike

It could be. The Taylorcraft can easily become "tail heavy", due to the long lever arm (the tailwheel is about 182 inches aft of the rearmost cg limit). I guess a few ounces won't make a huge difference, but I would not add anything not absolutely necessary.

Have a look at this spreadsheet .
