    Re: Trim dissassembly questions

Trim tab hinge pin, 1/8 " stainless gas welding rod. File small falt spot on one end, center punch on flat spot. Drill hole for cotter pin or a small brass nail that is tapped into the wood of the trim tab ( in my case). Good Luck.

I think there's a small hole in the elevator for the cotter pin. That's how mine is secured.

Not yet, had to get the Horiz.Stabs off which only occurred Sunday.
I"m out of town Wed/Thurs, so probably won't be able to haul it until the weekend of the 22nd. Plans still in Jello - Mike

          Hey Mike,

Thanks to your post I was able to find a small push pin someone had used for a retainer. However, they missed the hole in the hinge rod, that was why the rod kept backing out. Got the pin out and used a cotter, works great now.
          Cheers,
          Marty

Wow - believe me I'm glad to have helped! Did the rod look capable of working it's way out so it might interfere with the trim tab's ability to move ? - Mike

I have found it in the past maybe three or four inches out before, ultimately it may have fouled with the rudder and/or come un-hinged. Fixed it with a cotter key, not a problem now.
              Cheers,
              Marty
