  • F-19 Fuel Caps

I have the original fuel caps on my F-19. They are black plastic with the curved tube vent facing forward (if installed right).

The metal tubes are all corroded, and I'm looking to replace the tube. Has anyone done this before ? It looks like steel brake line that's bent 90 degrees, and somehow bolted to the cap.

As another option, does anyone know of a source for new caps ?

Try copper or steel tube (available from model suppliers) brazed in. Cheap & cheerful, but works a treat.

I am in need of some caps for my clipwing project. The ones I bought have the tabs on the lower portion of the cap which would make the cutout in the fabric too large. Didn't some post that a boat fuel tank cap would work? It is experimental so the FAA approved thing isn't a factor.

        Fuel Caps

I guess you could go to an auto parts store, or boat supply store and try to find one.

Try going to the Stant website, I had to buy some weird caps recently, and used their website to find the part number, but then just ordered the cap I wanted from a local supplier.

          Gas cap

          Eric, take a look at a Gates anti-surge gascap P/N 31623
(no wings, chrome). RE: gascap gasket...see 1970-1974 Honda model SL 100 or XL100. Experimental application only! FWIW Dick

The wings are 4130 steel again brazed on. Dead simple to make the whole thing under "owner-manufactured parts" if you can get the original caps.
