terne-plate fuel tank

so I have a little mystery here in my pile of t-craft parts.

I have a left hand wingtank that is terne-plate not aluminum.
It is identical to the aluminum ones I had in the BC-12D project.
Any ideas? I am assuming if it is indeed an original Taylorcraft
tank it may be an early one?

It is an original. Prewar or early postwar. All L-2 wing tanks were also terneplate but are slightly different. I have seen them modified and used in "B" models before.
