    Re: The saddest Tcraft

I tried to buy that from the owner a number of years back. He basically told me to get lost.....much the same as he told all the others who've tried. Wally Olson, of Evergreen fame, once told me there was a sad story there with a daughter who died or something like that. I can't really remember the story and there was always a good chance Wally was just pulling my leg......but apparently the guy who owns it just has never been able to bring himself to sell it.
It was gorgeous when it first flew in there. Now, I don't think there's much, if anything, salvageable. There is, or was, a Stinson 108-3 on the field there that has lived a parallel existence. Once beautiful, now just a hunk of rust and corrosion....very sad.
Carl, what are you flying these days? I heard you sold your F19.

I remember hearing that story from Wally too, about 14 years ago... I asked him about it too, and he headed me off from the guy... what a waste.

I'm not flying anything ... but I am having fun with my new camera.

Here is another sad case at Evergreen. Do you know when it last flew?

If I recall correctly, that little yellow beauty belonged to a gal who bought it to get her license in or had just gotten her license and bought it to fly. I remember chatting with her a few times when it first showed up out there. I think it has an 85 in it. Then one day she just never came back.

It must be 10 years or more since I talked to her. I still think that one's salvageable. It would be tempting to just to load it up on trailer. Not to steal it, of course......but as a sort of airplane abuse intervention.
Just like some people shouldn't have kids, some people shouldn't have airplanes. Of course, when folks see my old beater BC12D, they sometimes suspect me of abuse.....I have flown the hell out of it (and it looks like it), but it's always been loved and cared for.

Looks as if the left wing and tail stayed tied and the right side did not. Was it rebuilt or do you know

                        You called it Kevin.
The owner had thoughtfully purchased some very strong climbing rope.
That particular winter, an insidious layer of ice (over snow) cut the right wing rope and over it went.
The lesson? A second rope is cheap insurance. If you tie down in the snow belt, use a crust cutter (cable/chain) on your tie down.
This T-craft was one of a pair of identical twins, built by the same person. I have fond memories of flying them both when I was younger.
                        It was parted out.

Here is the same photo but with the lighting fixed. It looks like you read the N number correctly.

                              Marv,
                              Mostly parted out.
This happened over 25 years ago.
The good wing, engine, prop, and some small stuff was sold off soon after.
I'm glad the paperwork and remaining parts were able to carry on!
