How many of you know that the BC-12D also had metal spars? My first encounter with them was my uncle did an annual on a T-craft with a set and noticed the model was a BC-12D-2. Several years back, we ended up purchasing a set of metal spar "B" model wings. They are close to the "D" wings but attach differently. I was told that there was supposedly 100 airplanes delivered this way which I have yet to verify. I am sure T-craft did this sometime late '45 or early '46 when they were using up all the prewar stock to get airplanes out the door. Forrest, can you shed any light on this?

    Re: Taylorcraft trivia

These were designed for the B after the very successful ones used on the early L-2 ( d model). THEY used a wee bit different web thickness and of course had to attach between the "ears" of the B fuselage fittings.. Also instead of using the famous "clip" for the rib attachment ( fabricated ribs too), they use3d a rivet to the spar design I have a lot ribs here...

I tried to talk each factory into using them, the "B" style could use the Piper spar material of course and IT is available from Carlson Aircraft right next to me. see www.sky-tek.com I have a lot of bits 7 pieces and spars ( mix & match) too! and for Mike , yes they built a batch of them in 1947 that sent almost 100 of them to one dealer in Ca..
