  • Pics of VG install on wings

I added pic of my install of Vg's on the wings of the Duck. Under Yellow Duck in Photo Gallery; Then VG Install.

Took me about 10 hrs so for. Tomorrow I will do the tail section and hopefully fly it.

Just click on the hyper link and should take you there.

Looks good Lee. The wierdest ones I've put on so far have been on a Stinson, as you have to move them back toward the aileron, because of the slot in front of the aileron. I'm looking forward to the "pilot report". I always tell my customers that they're not supposed to be a "stol kit" but rather an enhancement of control at low speed...

Thanks John, mostly what I am looking for. I genetal come in pretty slow and it gets kinna sloppy at the end. If it does help me slow down a bit, that iis even better.

Gonna finish this morning, hopefully. But, was thinking about trying it with only the wings finished, before starting on the tail section. Just to see the difference. Any comments on that ?

When you get everything installed. I would love to hear what you think, as far as before-and-after also. If you don't mind me asking, what kind did you buy and how much?

Look forward to hearing your first impression

I purchased the Micro Aero's. Price was $465, but was due to go up after the first of the year.

And I will let you know about the difference in performance.

I think I'd install them all before I messed around flying. Although, I did talk to Charlie (Microaerodynamics) one day and he was hollering about a guy that had called a few times earlier that week with a Kitfox.. this guy was complaining about the way it handled AFTER he'd installed the VG's... then Charlie finally got the truth out of him... he'd only done one wing!! Charlie was saying it was days like that that were the reason for gray hair! hahaha

Yea, have both wing finished, but decided to finish the tail section also. Will do that tomorrow.

Re: Pics of VG install on wings

I talked to a guy a while back who had put them on his Maule M4....he was unhappy with them, thought they made the stall speed too slow. He liked to fly a faster approach and he said they made it float if he didn't slow it way down. Really.
How well did they work on the Stinson? My brother and I have debated putting them on ours. WE do like to fly slow approachs....much better when landing "off-airport".

They worked wonderful on the Stinson! Well worth the money. It's good without them, but even better with them!

For goodness sake, Lee, we're all sitting here waiting to see how they work on the Duck...stop typing and go out and fly! VG's are on my list too.

That is a great looking Stinson! Which engine are you running in that?
Do you have any kind of before and after numbers on the Stinson with the VGs?
They are a temendous short field performer if you fly them right on the numbers, but it'd be nice to have some margin.

I'm in Minneapolis this week on bidness. Cold as all get out. Very strange to leave shorts weather and enter 15 layers of clothes country.

And they say it is warm for this time of year!!!!!
