Re: Ft. Lauderdale/Miami?
I have a VERY good friend close to there I plan to visit this spring. He and I had an aircraft appraisal business together a few years ago. That wouldn't be of any use would it?
Contact me at my home e-mail (I think you should still have it, if not e-mail me and I will send it.) ;-)

Have you made the flight to GA with only a handheld? Any issues? Couldn't be a real problem as SnF is just north of you. I'm probably making too big a deal of a non-issue.- MikeMike Horowitz

Re: Ft. Lauderdale/Miami?
Mike,
First off it is NO problem at all.
There are basically two routes. When I fly the Bonanza, I fly up to coast. Lots of airports along the way. Minimum alt. of 2500 ft works with slight jogs around Daytona and Jax.. This dumps you way east though.
I perfer the inland route in my L2M. I head west to Okceehobee (great fuel stop) then west to Sebring and then north BETWEEN Orlando and Tampa. This is a wide corridor with lots of airports. North of Orlando your route will take you over (or very close to) Leesburg, Ocala, Gainesville, Lake City, and Valdosta, Ga. The only "swampy" portion is from west of Lauderdale to OBE and there are still many private grass strips as well as Indiantown (6000 ft grass).
Regarding the restricted and MOA airspace, it is all in the middle to east portions of the state. From Sebring on up it completely a non-factor.
It's a neat trip, you'll have a great time. If you have any other questions or whatever, shoot me an email
