Re: Wing Tank Problems... Help, Anyone!
I am trying to attach a picture. I've been thru two browsers and all settings on the pop-up blocker... and I still don't have anything happen when I hit the "manage attachments" button...Bob...help...is this my computer's problem or a software bug? I was able to post a photo one time before, by shutting off IE and starting Netscape. But now, zippo on both.
I am going to post a photo of the C-channel in my photo gallery on the club website. the photo will be titles C-Channel and will be the last photo in my album. This photo shows the one on the left side, which clears the fuel elbow. The one on the right side is an inch farther forward, and prevents anything from accessing the fuel outlet.
Yes Jim this was originally a BL, but when it was updated to an A-65 they actually re-certified it as a BC, data plate and all.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Harer STC, based on my experiences with doing it. Anyone interested in my reasons is welcome to contact me for answers via private e-mail victorbravo (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net.
I made a decision that this C-channel was not structurally needed, and began cutting, drilling and grinding it out of the way. This little C-channel now joins the drawing 2569 spar doublers as an esoteric, academic and historic mystery, to be solved when all other earthloy mysteries are solved.
Grant, my airplane had the valve and aluminum line inside the cockpit on the left when I got it. So I will do it the same way on the right. As ugly and low-rent as that looks, it will allow me to have access to everything, so I will live with it. It's not like a Taylorcraft would be overflowing with creature comforts but for the exposed fuel system.
Both wings now have aux tanks installed. The airplane came to me with one on the left side (strange), and I was given another one by an L-2 owner who couldn't use it on his airplane.
again, anyone wanting to see the metalp iece in question just look at my gallery photo album.
Bill
