  • Taylorcraft F21 accident in UK

A sorry story of an accident to the only F21 here in England...fortunately without serious injury to the pilot.

She was (apparently according to the national press) rescued with the help of the signal from her mobile phone (cellphone to you western folks).

I met the lady involved earlier this summer; she has accepted my offer to come fly in our BC model as part of the "back in the saddle" process. Hopefully she will overcome the incident.

This was the aircraft that suffered the fracture of the lower strut attach fitiing, fortunately found during routine inspection. A newer AD will still probably emerge in the future.

    Robert,

First, Glad to her the Pilot is ok. No idea on what happened but it sounds like the very least that bad weather(IMC???) played a part AND the pilot got the Taylorcraft on the ground without the pilot leaving us for life eternal. At this point it sounds like good luck and good pilotage and above all else a damn good airplane.

I have said it before here and I will say it again. When my instructor of above all choice said to me once " Jim as fine as this Taylorcraft is and I have not flown any near as nice including new ones do not ever worry about sacrificing it vs you. You are as unique as your Christan brother. The airplane
is replacable, you my friend are not. "

By the way he is known the "flying preacher" and to those of us that have been fortunate enough in these parts to know him he represents everything "right" about flying. Also let it be known that this man has flown to profeciency most every GA aircraft in existance to date (including the Cirruss) and all the Jets.
His favorate aircraft???? Well what do ya know ..........TAYLORCRAFT!!!!!!!

Robert, I am glad your friend can live to read this. Our prayers are with her.
