Re: Spoke with Harry Tuesday
Tribe and Harry
Marketing is a fine science. Piper understood it first and then Cessna. It goes like this. When a pilot decides to buy an airplane he will buy the airplane based on what he is familiar with, ie. I learned to fly in a Tri Pacer. When it came time to buy, I bought a Tripacer. Piper cubs have enjoyed much success from this concept but Cessna has enjoyed the most. I now own, and I am building a Taylorcraft because it is the absolute neatest aircraft for my purpose. The first aircraft that I rode in was a t-craft and that has an impact on my belief system.
Having stated that, It is my belief that if a person wants to make and sell New Taylorcrafts successfully, It would seem that adherence to the marketing principles outlined above would be a priority. In addition to those principles, I think keeping the multitude and variety of t-crafts flying would be a priority. The more excellent examples of Taylorcrafts flying and available to the flying public, the more potential buyers for new ones (read:make and sell parts for us.)
In this small community of T-craft owners and builders (including the factory) there is a need to stay focused on the ball, T-Craft ownership! I personally will let the factory quote price and availability first on the new parts that I need. Who knows, when I retire maybe I can afford to buy a brand spankin new T-Craft with all bells and whistles. By supporting the factory maybe Harry will be around to sell it to me.
