  • Spoke with Harry Tuesday

Spoke with Harry yesterday. Said all is going well, has about 16 orders, has one flying, which will not be sold. Others are due out beginning of the year. Also a new wing tank. 18 gals of some type of plastic (?) Developed by UT and is due approval soon.

Also commented about how he is pleased with the workers there, and the treatment he is receiving from Brownsville. Will be adding grass strips also. It was short (our visit) and also invited me to come down. He will be going to FL for the Sport Pilot thing and will be flying the new T-Craft Sport there.

Also said he doesn't come to the Taylorcraft site as he was beaten up pretty badly there, and now stays away.

He did also say he is trying to get parts for the current T-Craft owners, that can be purchased from him.

10:30am Just got off the phone with the parts manager. Asked for a new set of Drag wires for two wings. Parts Manager said his computer had a failure . Asked him if he could send COD. He said " I have not been able to do that" Added " I take a credit card numberer" I gave him my name and phone number and asked him to please check with Harry. He said he would call me back.

Will keep all posted. I really am looking foward to the factory being successful. We sure need parts parts parts (least I do !!)

Well folks. Our fine folks in Brownsville Texas appear to be getting it right . The experience placing my order COD with a gentleman named Will the ( parts dept manager ) has been very pleasant indeed. He called me back twice after checking everything and yesterday let me know that my order was on the way. They are doing a fine job up to this point. I will let yall know when I recieve the parts.

PS Lets keep the faith and hope/help Harry make it work. I will keep you posted....

                  Hi Jim,
I was in BRO over the weekend checking on my restoration. I saw your box with drag wires waiting for pickup. I think the factory is the real deal! My fuselage had new pulleys and wires installed, one wing had new spars and was nearly ready to cover, the other wing was was waiting for its new spars to go in the jig for nose ribs. Also they had four new bottom cowls ready to go and a fifth one was in the jig getting shaped.
They had four people doing rib stitching on a wing, fuselage and aileron. The paint booth is huge (the factory is an old bus factory).
The thing that catches your eye is the new red BC12D, it is beautiful.
I will be headed down there again in January.
                  Jay

                      Re: Spoke with Harry Tuesday

Hello: Regarding the drag/antidrag wires for your wing set, what kind of price where you charged? I am awaiting a quote from INACO/AFAST in SAT for a two wing set. As an aside, there is an article about the Taylorcraft Factory and a full page ad for a 2006 Taylor Sport ($69,995) in the Nov/Dec "The Auto Pilot" (www.autopilotmagazine.com). In a previous article, Harry talked about not using Martin clips and changing to stitching fabric - I think he wants to have his employees proficient in this type of restoration work. Thanks. Doc
