Hi Guys: just wanted to get your thoughts on something. I flew my plane yesterday after about 5 weeks of inactivity. It started up and ran great as usual. I flew about 40 minutes from my home base and landed at Blairstown NJ. I noticed on final the engine seemed a little bit rough (carb heat was on as usual) after landing we rolled out and turned on to the taxiway. The engine was quite rough and then it stopped. My passenger got out and on the second pull it started up and ran perfectly. We did a few takeoffs and landings and then flew back home and landed with no problem. The engine has about 150smoh and always runs perfectly pulling 40 pounds of oil pressure with oil temp about 150. It seemed to me like a fuel problem, maybe a little dirt lodging in the carb somewhere then being dislodged? It was some kind of temporary gremlin.
One thing I have noticed is I get and always have gotten a really big rpm drop on runup with carb heat.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tom Gilbertson
