In 1950 my plane was almost new and so was I.

A former owner of N95312 sent me the attached photo of my Taylorcraft as it appeared in 1950. The color scheme was black with orange stripe. Covering was cotton and already needing replacement due to the Texas sun. Two wing tanks, A-65 engine. Location is Meacham Field, Fort Worth, Texas.

NC95312 was test flown by Reese C. Edwards, Comm# 200891, who used to live at 1318 N. Walnut , Alliance.
She was first flown on Sept 9, 1946 for 25 minutes.( one of 7 he flew that day). then flown again the next day 9-10-46 for 20 mins..
Reese was a good friend and re flew at lot his ships here at the fly-ins in Alliance.

Mark: best I could come up with (again from a previous owner) was 1969...but at least mine's in colour

Well Rob, It is nice having the old photos, although I think your plane looks a lot sharper after your restoration.

I am still puzzling about why anyone would have a black plane in Texas. I (briefly) considered putting my plane back in factory new colors, but after a week of temperatures over 103F last month, I think I'll just keep it Daytona White.

Sounds very sensible to me, Mark. How much was black? The photo doesn't show the upper surfaces very well.

Just to bore everyone to tears, here is my plane in Texas in 1987.
The existing scheme that you refer to, Mark, (the second photo, very non-historical, admittedly) was applied two years later, just before export to the UK. I have chosen to keep the same scheme, because I like it.
