Great memories for me too! Dad used racks up from the front & rear bumpers to hold the wings, tail in the rear seat and away we went

20 years ago My boss built an Alison 250 powered 420hp Turbine Helio Courier. Flew it around for a bit and sold it. The plane has been out of country for many years and was recently purchased by a local guy here in WA. The aircraft was disassembled and shipped up to our shop from south america and we had it in storage about 5 miles from the airport until we could start work on it. To get it over to the airport (Fuse only) we used my bosses "willy wagon" ref; National Lampoons Family Vacation. Chevy Caprice Estate station wagon with the rear gate down and 2 guys sitting in back holding on to the tail of the Helio. While crossing HWY-2 about 1 mile before the airport entrance and a stranger started following us. He seemed quite interested in the aircraft. Turns out he is the local Rolls Royce Allison rep, and he knew exactly what kind of engine was in the nose of that plane, but did not know that there was ever a turbine powered courier. He was quite excited and said to contact him if we needed any additional help. Kinda funny that we would run into the Allison rep while towing a plane out of the back of a station-wagon through Monroe Wa.
