Dragging a project fuselage home from the airport or returning an aircraft back to the airport can be time consuming. I didn't want to load it on a trailer by myself, and I got tired of removing the tail wheel and bolting up a spring set to the trailer hitch so I decided to design a simple tail wheel holder that attaches to the receiver on my truck. The design also had to use materials I had available in my shop.
Using a piece of tubing I drilled holes that matched the receiver then added angle iron to the sides, front, and back to capture the tail wheel. A ratchet strap holds the tire securely in the cradle and using it many times has made it easy to move a fuselage or deliver the fuselage to the airport. If the tube was extended it could be made to move a flyable aircraft around the airport or in and out of hangers. This would work out nicely with an ATV and either a front or back receiver hitch.
