  • Shinn brake shoe dimensions

I will be getting 4 new shinn brake shoes from Classic Aero without the fittings on each end for my 46 BC12D. I have the fittings, but do not have a complete shoe to copy.
Does anyone have a drawing that will enable me correctly locate the fittings. Hopefully all shoes for the 46 BC12D are the same.
    thanks.

Measured from the end of the shoe. Measured a few of them and all are about the same. Rivets centered.

Thanks for the info. As it turns out, the new shoes from Classic Aero came predrilled.

I was rather hoping that the Shinn wheel setup left over from our BC12 after going to floats, would help us restore a pre-war Chief with bad right hand Shinn gear. So, I think we have some post-war Shinn stuff and other ea ly Taylorcraft parts to offer your group. I think the inside diameter of the wheels is smaller for the Taylorcraft and post-war Chief then the pre-war counterpart. The wheel castings look the same, but the difference really is the inside diameter, from what I can tell. I know they won't fit on these old Aeronca axles anyways. I'm hoping the brake guts are the same though. We're really running out of parts for this 65LA.

Looks like the wheels fit these axles that taper from 1 1/4" down to 7/8", then fitted with a 5/8" nut. I know the Shinn stuff fit here, as I have some of those parts left over and they fit on these gear legs.
