  • Looking for BC-65 Sold After World War 2

This is a long shot, but I’m looking to see if anyone owns the Taylorcraft BC-65 that Alton Applewhite sold in San Antonio, Texas, in 1946. This aircraft was used by the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. Below is the advertisement clipping from the March 15, 1946, edition of the San Antonio Express newspaper.

If you have the tail number you can look it up in the FAA "N Number Lookup" on the aircraft registry

I have a pretty extensive database of planes and this one sounds like a 41 Deluxe. Problem is my database is based on NC number, Serial Number and current owners name. I don't know of a way to search on a prior owners name (once the plane is located thee ARE ways to find almost all prior owners but it is really involved and really requires finding the last registered owner). Do you have any more information or any photos of the plane?
I did find who I think was his son, Alton Stephen Applewhite Jr who was born in 1940 and passed on March 26, 2020. Alton Juniors mother was named Mariana and his wife was Karen. He had three sons, Tod and his wife Stephanie live in Portland/Gregory, son Andy and his wife Jenn live in Bulverde, and 3rd son Chad and M'Lea live in College Station. This Alton Applewhite may not be the right one but it appears some of his grand children still live in Texas.
Long shot but sometimes these searches can be really revealing. Be sure to let us know if these leads help!
