  • Installing all Trim parts and last question

Well folks I am about finished with the mystery of the trim installation and where goes what. Once this is perfected (by next week) I am going to take detailed pictures of the full installation and post here as well as the Facebook site.

Last question . My cable appears to rub against the little cross piece of the airframe at the rear most beginning of the fuslage station as the cable (top and bottom) come into and out of the little pully on the elevator. I see a threaded stud welded to the frame in this area. Is there supposed to be a phenolic stand off of some sort back there?

Agreed. Today in going through the boxes of parts I found what looks to be the exact part made for this. Center hole for threaded stud welded to Fuslage and one hole on either side of that . It. Is exactly what I was thinking...Rectangular piece of phenolic with brass insets for the cables (upper and lower as they come off that elevator pully) to run through. If it is not supposed to be for this it sure fits perfectly AND keeps the trim wire from sawing against the middle fuslage pieces back there.

Again I am going to take pictures if the entire system and post it here under trim system installation.to save someone having to solve a jigsaw puzzle the next time..

When I rebuilt my trim system, I had to give up on the old phenolic trim piece/block with the copper inserts...I just made one out of solid copper busbar.

Yes sir THAT is the piece I am speaking to. Yes Copper inserts. Mine was in nice shape so I simply cleaned it up and just a moment ago installed it.

Some pictures of the trim installation for future reference. Excuse the old dirty empenage parts as they are next on the list for a total strip and new epoxy. Had to mount them for referance as a friend is ready to cover the fuselage and rigging needed to be done..
