Note the non standard " Early Ford " window track and window opening from the rear. Rubber window seal from McMaster on order to complete the sides . Original interior trim around windows was shot and subsequent replacements were somewhat hammered as well. Un obtanium . Idea is a comfortable way to rest the arm with the window open. We will see about that . No doubt cleaner after looking at original. A ton of work has/is going into these doors ...

Thank you for your comment. Your window is correct as from the factory ! I specifically wanted the rear to open on this build. Want to try it any. The front will slide currently. If the rear slider works the way I want it then the front will be " locked shut" That determination is a ways off with flight. When I decided to go to the Skylight and the 0200 with Luscombe exhaust originality went out the window...pun intended. If it is ever a judged plane I will ask it to be done so in the custom catagory. If they can't do that I could care less. Practical flying is much more important to me anyway.

Just make sure the aft "glass" is on the INSIDE, not the outside. If the front door window is on the inside the small gap between the front and rear "glass" will allow a spray of water to come in if you go through rain.

Hank, yes we have discussed this before. That is why the rear glass is on the inside (Hard to tell in the pictures) Thanks

Do you have a Mcmaster part number by chance? I need a seal...the current windows slide against each other and it is starting to score slide marks in the windows. Looks good, by the way!

Thanks. I understand the score marks! To solve that I attached felt with gorilla glue that I cut to fit the metal pieces in the middle of the window that attach to the end of each piece of plexi. These are providing enough clearance Clarence to keep the windows far enough apart as they are sliding by each other. The McMaster Carr rubber is only going to be used as a seal at each end along where each piece of plexi contacts the door frame. It will not be doing anything to stop the rubbing. I am going to use a seal that is flat with a rubber on the bead for this .will get you the part number in a day or so. On second thought it may actually help this situation...hmm. Yes you will see what I mean when I point you to it as well! Really though I believe my problem is resolved already

Interesting, looking at you pictures more carefully, it occured to me that I also do not have the metal trim on the edge of the sliding window (where the felt is located). I wonder if this trim piece was removed in the past to allow for an unobstructed view? Without the felt, not only do the windows slide against each other, but rattle a bunch as well when flying.

Braol, when iI was having all the new metal work for the cowel being fabricated by Max Wenglarz and his father, I had them make me the new metal strips to spec to fit my plexiglass that I had already purchased. If you get a measurement of the thickness of your plexiglass it is an easy thing for a metal guy to make. The devil is truly in details like this. You could go whole hog and remove the interior trim window frame and get new plexiglass, have the metal strips made etc...if your plexi is hammered up.

Something that works well for a plexi guide is the "fuzzy" part of VELCRO instead of felt. Doesn't hold water, is sold in strips and has an adhesive backing.

Yes they did He and or his father. They are reasonable in all they do. They did my cowl, rebuilt the nose bowl and did my boot cowl. I had another sheet metal man fit and install all they did on those items. That was a good bit more $$$. However the simple window frames were ready to go and even I could use them immediately without staying in a Holiday Inn Express the night before.....
