  • F21B Wheels

Very recently my new F21B (82092) got out to Bozeman MT and I am trying to decide what tire/wheels I should put on the plane. I would like to put bigger tires on but was looking for advice. Has anyone out there put ABWs on their F21?

When your asking if anyone has put bigger tires on their f-21, your talking to maybe 10 people total, and 1 other might be on this forum.....

You need to discuss with your mechanic about field approvals first since not all mechanics and fsdo's have the same opinions.

I suggest this STC'd tire and heavy duty brakes> https://www.airframesalaska.com/Alas...-p/26126.r.htm I have the similar but lighter Airstreak 26" on a BC12D-85 modified with STC SA1-210 and Field Approved Grove wheels and brakes. While they are approved up to 31", unless you need that cushion the 26" should suffice. Note: It's impossible to see the runway 3-point with 26" or larger tires unless you look out the side of the shield.

Thanks Gary I appreciate the input, I was thinking the 26's were going to be the ticket. Thats also a good note about not being able to see the runway for 3 pointers.

If you buy their 26" tires, run 8# of air, avoid sharp turns on pavement, and order covers for the tires if parked outdoors. They also sell a UV protectant to apply periodiclly. The are prone to cracking from direct exposure to sunlight for extended periods. I got 7 years out of my last pair but the were outdoors and uncovered. I learned to protect that investment.
