  • Wing Strut Size question.

Thought I might tap the brain trust here.

I have a set of front struts that have a major dimension of ~3.4" and minor of ~1.4. They are new and still in black prime from the company that manufactured them. I have no paperwork on them and trying to figure out who the manufacture might be.

For that strut size I would think Wag Aero/Aero Fabricators.

I just looked back on some notes, and that size is larger than the Wag Aero struts, but from memory seems smaller than the Univair and Alaska Airframe struts.

The only dimensions I have found were for the Wag struts. The dimensions from Univair and AA aren’t listed on their sites that I could find.

Really appreciate you taking the time to help.

I just stopped in at Univair asking about their struts. Their dimensions for the front strut is major 3.372 in. and minor 1.429 in. The rear strut is major 2.360 in. and minor 1.000 in.

When the AD came out I got an early set of Airframes Alaska struts. They came primed but otherwise unpainted. Just went out and measured them.
          Front 3.84" X 1.45"
          Rear 2.36" X 1.0"

The front is larger than the original. I believe that they re-purposed their after market super cub struts for the front.

Sorry for my slow response, been away. The ones I have are the exact same size as the Univair.

            Thx for the feed back.
