  • Continental A65 oil tank

Just bought a replacement A65 for our Taylorcraft. It is in excellent condition with slick magnetos.

The oil tank is off an 0-200 (which was approved for Aeroncas fitted with A65s) however it just interferes with one of the tubes of the engine mount (as there are additional flange supports on this sump)

I have also read on the Aeronca forum that members mod the tank to fit somewhat - Anyone used these oil tanks on BC12s and can give any feedback / help?

It will need to have a valley cut into it. Also my understanding not just any ol a 65 tank will fit a T. Anyway I saved my old one from the original A 65 which was in perfect shape and am going to use it on the 0200. Will add a oil filter for more capacity.

The 200 tank requires serious modifications to work, the 65 tank is not large enough capacity for 100hp, some modified 65 tanks split the seam and then a wedge is welded into the halves and the forward side is pivoted forward, you may also want to add the supports so the tank doesn’t crack at the flange.

The 65 tank will work just fine. Add an oil filter ...
        Been there and done it.
