  • Chuck Brandon of Prospect Penn.

Did any of the guys here know Charles (Chuck) Brandon from Prospect Pennsylvania? He had a 40 BC-65 and also went by "Pap" and "Old Chief". I was running N numbers and serial/construction numbers looking for old 40 Taylorcrafts and came across his Obituary at https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries...ary?id=8813714 He evidently passed March 11, 2020 and I just caught it because his plane, NC 24464, was de-regestered on 6/4/2022. It hurts to loose one of the tribe, but especially when we miss even hearing about it.

So sorry to hear of your passing Chuck and hope you are flying high till we all meet again.

      Hank,

As I responded on facebook. it really jumped out at me that he worked for Halstead. Halstead started what is now the Zelienople Airport. (PA) Built on the TASA strip mine It was a grass strip paved in the 50s. We would fly Halsteads NEW rental 150s in the winter where dad paid $10 dollars per hour wet. In the summers we would go back to 43831 that he co owned kept at the farm strip Lakehill Airport in Mars PA and fly her all summer. Dont know if dad knew this gent. about to go out to the hangar here in Columbia SC where the work of restoration goes on to 43831. Small world as life goes on also.
