  • wing struts

    I have a small rust hole in one of my rear struts . I assume the strut is now junk . are replacement struts available anywhare ?

    Not necessarily junk...it could be repaired. Take a look at AC 43.13-1b, there will be some pointers there.

    It might be advisable to get all the struts NDT'd for thinning of the walls. I think they use ultrasound to measure wall thickness.

      Not junk, they can be repaired. Where is the rust hole located?

      Just curious, do they have vent holes on the trailing edge at the bottom of the struts?

      You might get new ones from Univair Aircraft.

        I have an old one from a 46 BC 12-D that has a small rust hole it the bottom. if you could use it for a repair i would be happy to send it for the price of shipping.

          From what I"m reading about splices and patches, what you are describing isn't a major problem.
