OVHL of Big tach?

Well, I have had this BF-50 project for about 2 months. Plan of attack is Panel forward. Franklin pullled and disassembled - crank in to engine shop.
Instrument panel pulled today - so where do I send the big tach for checkout and overhaul. Thanks.

I sent mine to Keystone Instruments in Lockhaven, PA a few years ago. They did a real nice job on it, but be prepared to wait a few months...

You might also try Rudy's Instrument Repair in, of all places, Rudy, AR. They did a Turn & bank for me and did a fine job. Quick turn around and about as reasonable as anyone.

I vote for Keystone in Lock Haven, PA. They have done a lot of instrument work for me over the years, always top notch.

Instrument Markings

I am ready to send airspeed indicator out to Keystone. I have the original '39 instrument panel plate which carries text stating max airspeed. Do I need to have my airspeed indicator carry markings as to max airspeed of 131mph?

Similiar question as to oil pressure temps, oil pressure, and max rpms on the SW big tach tied to the Franklin limits?

I didn't specify when I sent the big tach to Keystone that they mark it with oil temp/pressure limits. At my next annual, I was told to place some stick-on decals on the face of the glass.

I would have them mark the gauge. If I had asked for them to do that while they were lithographing the face, it would have looked better.

I ran the traps on this today with the local FSDO regarding required markings. I was told the the original type certificate is the bible. If it says that the instruments must be marked, they must be marked. If the type certificate does not requuire markings, they do not have to be marked.

I need to confirm in writing from the FSDO, but that certainly is in-line with the original instruments that came with my project.
