  • Compass Overhaul

The compass on my L2M has taken to spinning wildly while in flight. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can send it to be overhauled?

    Thanks

wonder if the earth's magnetic field is getting ready to flip?
Like it did a few years ago when they changed the numbers on three of the major airports in my area.......

Oh, like dogs howling and horses getting restless just before an earthquake, Nick's compass is likewise a warning! - Mike

        Nick:

Seriously...they spin like that when the compass has no fluid in it. You can get a kit from Wag aero or Spruce for a few dollars that has fluid and new gaskets. Easy fix.

If you need a quick temporary fix...some folks have been known to just add fluid (mineral spirits or paint thinner). A slow leak will need a refill again in a month or a year.

Johnson's baby oil is better, or white kerosine

I had a compass that did that once. The magnet in the compass where loose and would rotate causing the compass to spin.
