    Mike, might be worth it to have a look at what I did to avoid this problem. Jury is still out of course with only about 25 hours, but the fact that there is no metal on metal is an improvememt and may represent a good repair option for you.

      thanks for the photo link, I think that would work very well to extend the worn area on our heater muff. Somehow I missed that photo when I went through your blogpost. Very thorough documentation and that heater muff mold was killer! I wish I had the skills and time to make one too. I will try to copy your woven fabric rub strips, but I doubt it will look as nice!
