  • Well I had a new to me failure yesterday

So I was cleaning, gapping and testing plugs yesterday for an annual. I went through the normal wire wheel the threads, clean out the lead, gapped the plugs, use the Champion media blaster and tester, did the spark under pressure test and all was good.

Before I went to put them in, I got the fluke meter out and checked the ohms. One of the plugs had an open circuit. It tested good under pressure but was not making contact internally. So make sure you do ALL of the tests. I have had high resistance but never an open that spark checked good. Tim

Not at open, but over a 1,000,000 ohms. That is why I switched to Tempest and have not looked back.

I heard something on Supercub.org about that. Sounds like a lot more common than I ever imagined.
