  • FAA Database

I was looking at the FAA Database of my N number and noticed that they list it as having an A65 in it. My data plate says the same thing. Now, I know everything is correct as I have the actual sign-offs and STC's necessary to be legal (even on the FAA disk). But, should they (Database and my data plate) read differently?

    Richard,
Ya lost me there! If the data plate and the FAA agree, then what is the issue?

Did you mod the plane such that the dataplate should now disagree with FAA papers?

      Re: FAA Database

The data plate and the FAA database will reflect the original application for airworthiness. If STC's have been installed the engine will still be listed as original. In simple terms- it is right as listed.

Basically the FAA will show what was on the app. for airworthiness. . . . .stc's are ammendments to the type certificate and can be removed and installed.

        Re: FAA Database

The "dataplate" will not show which engine, only the manufacturer. ie Lycoming, Continental , Franklin and the ser# not "A-65" etc..

this is a genuine blank 1940-41 plate....

Thanks for the feedback guys! Makes me feel better (doesn't take much).

Forrest, It was dark so I couldn't read the plate, and to be honest, I was to #$%$# lazy to go find a flashlight! I'll look at it tommorrow!

          thanks guys!
