  • Fun, Fun, Fun.

Went out this am as was quiet here in the land of 25 mph/60 degree crosswinds. Not to hot yet. Did some airwork. Don't remember ever doing a power on stall in a Tcart. Nose really gets pointed way up. About 5 mph lower at quitin' time.
Had a little low level fun ( all strictly legal, you understand,) and then back for a few landings.
Handn't flown for about 2 weeks (don't even ask,) so I bounced and recovered the first one. Little bounce on the second. Was bumpy and variable out from morning heat so I was a little hesitant to slow it down too much. Finally whispered it over the lights and plopped it on really short. Man it's easy to forget how really slow you have to get that wing to flare through ground effect without sliding along the top. When I came over the lights (one gear on each side I think,) the airspeed was way down in the LITTLE numbers. Amazing airpane, just keeps flying.
Sometimes when you get busy taking care of the mundane stuff for a while it is easy to forget how good the real fun stuff is.

    Howdy Darryl,

Interesting note on the power on stall re: my mod 19 w/the 0200 conversion.
When I do departure stalls to the left at full power, I have to add a little right rudder AND aleron or the old girl will just keep the nose pointed toward heaven and slide off to the left. If I am straight the nose just keeps going up and she will ultimately break to the left and start to roll. Doesn't do it when I go to the right although the nose is about 75-80 deg to the horizion. If I reduce the power a little, the nose just mushes down and I'm flying again!!

    God, I love this airplane!!!

I am still waiting to hear from someone who has installed the vortex generators. I sure would like to know what the results are vs the standard T-craft.
    Best Regards

        Re: Fun, Fun, Fun.

Jim and I went up last week and did some more departure stalls, had Manu Sina cranked over at about 45 degrees, nose pointed STRAIGHT up, and we had to wait for the girl to finally decide to stall. STALL? It was almost a non event! A little reverse rudder and aileron, release the pressure, and she is flying again! We didn't lose a hundered feet!
Someone PLEASE tell me WHY this is not the most popular plane flying? I don't understand, the Taylorcraft will outfly ANYTHING in it's class.

It's truely a blessing that the ships are so underrated , otherwise they would fetch as much as a J-3 and I could have never owned one.

            Howdy Tribe,

Yesterday, my wife of 38 years, said that she thought that I cared more about the Taylorcraft than I did about her. Before I had a chance to dispute that observation she immediately followed with the entrapment question "Which do you love more, me or the Taylorcraft?" Unfortunately, I was still thinking about how to respond to the first statement, so I was too long in answering and got beat over the head because of my belated reply. So, today, I took my Skytech starter savings and bought her a nice gift certificate for one of her favorite shops. I gave it to her this pm with a nice card that said "Yes, I still love you." and a nice flower arrangement. She was thrilled and said, "Honey, go ahead and buy the part you need for your airplane."

This could only happen with a Taylorcraft.

Are these great airplanes or what!!!!!
            Best Regards

              Paul,
I'm on my 3rd and hopefully final wife,Marsha. We will be married 7 years tomorrow(16th).Now before I say this let me tell you that I love my wife dearly and I would do anything to make her happy....within reason.
Anyway,we had been married just over a year, money was pretty tight as I just started to rebuild one airplane(crispy critter),trying to sell another that I had bought a couple months earlier and then I came in and told her I was going back to the bank to borrow money to buy another. After she had a few beers and a few choice word to say to me she looked me dead in the eye and said"THE AIRPLANES GO OR I DO!!".My reply was,"well,if that's the way you really feel and I have no other choices then I'm sure gonna miss ya." I bought the other airplane the next day. She's still by myside and she even flies a little too.Now I must say that I had to do a lot of ass kissing for a few days but once I sold the 2 airplanes and took her on a nice vaction everything was A-OKAY and she has never question me again when it comes to my airplanes. She's truely a great lady and I am very blessed to have her.

OK guys, I looked at the plane, and I could not find any numbers on the intake spyder. The prop is a 71 X 44 Mc Cauly metal square tip.

                    Howdy Taylorcraftbc65,

The part # should be embossed on the casting. However, I have seen some that were stamped on either the front or rear of the carb mounting flange. Exactly what is it that you are looking for?

All; about the ode to coupled life, and I can be brief. There isn't anything in life more compelling than love, May I pay tribute to all those who succeed.
When I open the door she always smiles, the lady and me have made the miles.
You think of all the time you've had, and must admit was rarely bad.
I kiss her now with heart a yearning, but never!, when the props a turning........
