  • Window latch needed

I'm looking for a prewar window latch, the kind that toggles the bottom of the window out a couple inches.I know this isn't the "for sale" forum, but this gets a lot more looks,Thanks!Eric

    Eric:
I wish you luck in your search, but you might have a better chance of making one under "owner-produced parts" rules. It's a simple folded, riveted pair of steel pieces....I can provide dimensions if required.

      Rob:
I'd like to see those dimensions. As I understand it, there are three window designs: the non opening design (which I have), the two piece slideing window, and the bottom opening.

I'd like to have windows that I can open, so my question is this: can I use the slideing or bottom opening design on my BC12-D? Is there a STC for this conversion?

            Re: Window latch needed

I've taken some dimensions...next week I hope to be able to post them in some sensible format, along with photos.

The part that attaches to the door is welded...although I am sure an adaptation could be bolted, in a similar way to the part that attaches to the window.

Bob: if you have post-war doors (i.e. of spot-welded aluminium construction), these are not conducive to hinge-type windows. Might be better to consider sliding windows. I know not of any STC, more likely you would be better adapting the fixed glazing to sliding windows, using the existing sliding window design as "approved data".

That's the one, Forrest...except it does not show the brackets that attach to the window & door.
