  • Celebrity????

    Hey Guys,

According to the original documentation for my plane, it shows that it was owned in 1945 by none other than Al Barber. (I'm guessing he probably owned most of them at one time or another!) Anyway, I have owned this plane for 20 years and just put the connection together. It would be interesting to know if anyone else has one that was owned by Al?

    Thanks,
    Ken

Well, mine wasn't owned by Al, but when it came out of the factory it had a Motorola radio in it. I can't imagine what kind of radio they would put a Tcart in 1946, but I've worked on a lot of tube radios, and I'm surprised that it didn't put it over gross weight.

My father inherited an old 220 horse Waco from his grandfather that once belonged to Howard Hughes. It's on the restore list as soon as his C-170 is complete.

          Darryl,

I had a radio, also. Weighed 5.5 pounds, and it was essentially an AM receiver only, you know, your basic ADF radio. Located in the left side of the instrument panel. Hopefully some day, I can make a mock-up of the face plate to put in the plane. (to make it look more origional).

My first T-Craft was N43458. Now belongs to Raymond Kiser in VA. Anybody know him, or the plane, and what kind of shape it's in? It had a wind-driven generator and a low frequency receiver. This was in 1961, I was stationed in Alabama, and used to fly to a nearby 4-course range and practice approaches. It must have been one of the last 4-course ranges in the country--can't remember the name. Good time! I traded straight across for a PT-22, sold that for $1000 and figured I'd made a profit. What a deal!
