Is it typical for an FBO to ask to see evidence of a/c insurance?
I've been tied down at XXX for several years now; today the manager
asked for a copy of my insurance (not sure if he wanted to see a cy of
the policy, or simply evidence of insurance).
Did your FBO ask same of you? - Mike

never heard of that one Mike.Aircraft insurance is not a requirement or a law.It is however good common sense but not a must.

YES most airports require the proof of insurance.
IF you have such! There is no requirement in Ohio but that may vary from State to State...
Lets see what others have to say.

Now that I've had a night to sleep on it, when I tied down at Frederick (while taking lessons from Tom Young) they asked that they be added to my insurance.- Mike

Something I found VERY interesting. I added my Best Friend and his Dad to my insurance and go a real good break because of it! I think by myself I would have had to pay an extra 100 a year or so. Even the agent was suprised.

Funny thing is.....they both have TONS of time but I can fly rings around them in the T. I laugh at my buddy as he is setting up on final I keep having to say "slow it down to 60", "slow it down to 60", "slow it down to 60", DUDE you are never going to land if you don't slow it down!

New one on me. I've never had to show proof.

This and asking to named on your insurance policy is becoming more common.

Do you mean your home airport FBO or just any FBO? I've never heard of this before, only when I rented airplanes long ago.

At the field my Taylorcraft is at the FBO asked for not only a copy of my insurance but wanted a copy of my MEDICAL! They are upset that I use auto fuel (with the STC) and I don't buy their fuel. I have told them several times that if they will carry 80/87 or auto fuel I will buy it. The manager said I should use 100LL and it was OK and wouldn't hurt my engine (how would she know, she doesn't even fly). Between the trouble I get from them over fuel, the total lack of maintenance on the hangar, their refusal to tell me who else is in the row so I can get their share of the electrical bill (can't tell me, it's a violation of the "Privacy Act" but it's OK for them to DEMAND a copy of my medical) I have HAD IT! I have a new hangar at the next airport down the road for less money with good maintenance and auto fuel on the field. As soon as the painting is done my baby goes on the truck to be assembled at SFQ in Suffolk VA. Several other Taylorcrafts there and hope to see some of you guys there too.
I still can't believe the BALLS she had to DEMAND a copy of my medical!

If you wanted to stick around, I'll bet we could come up with a bunch of suggestions with respect to her request (beginning with asking for a set of the rules you (and her) are required to abide by, and then continuing with a series of steps to take with the electricity.
Are there any restriction on what can be stored? If I store my model 'A' Ford in one, does she require a medical? if not, then why would she want a med.for storing 'parts'?
OTOH, don't get your guts in an uproar - vote with your money

Guts aren't in an uproar (although they WERE for the NINE MONTHS they took to fix my hangar door after the hurricane) and I already am voting with my money. Suffolk airport is a great place and I am really having a great time there (that's where you kept your plane while you visited).
I tried every suggestion you can imagine to get some cooperation from her and it was HER WAY or the HIGHWAY. Highway looks pretty good right now. As for storage they require a plane in every hangar and you have to give them a copy of your annual. I gave her one (it said it wasn't in flyable condition) but hey! She just required a copy of an annual. The lease never said I had to PASS the annual!
I guess we have had a mutual tormenting society for a year or so now.
                        Hank ;-)
