Re: group buy Bungies
Plus, it is a major PITA to get everyone to pay in a timely manner and ship them all out, etc. I've done similar projects, just not worth it.Cheers,

Makes sense Marty, let the retailers make a buck and stay afloat so we have parts sources in the future.

Re: group buy Bungies
That was a big part of the first group buy. It not only saved us money but was actually more profit for the manufacturer. A major part of his expense is the setup required. The more bungees he makes with one setup the easier it is to amortize the cost of the setup. If he makes extra ones it only cost the cost of the materials (OK, well close) but if he doesn't sell them they are a loss. If we come in and get a couple hundred at a time he has them sold before he makes them and he knows they are all fresh and the best possible quality (large production runs can be standardized easier and again. the cost for verification of the setup is amortized over more units). If we could ALL get on board he knows he can plan ahead for another mass run for scheduled replacement, again lowering unit price. Heaven for him would be to know that all the Cubs were due for new bungees one year and all Taylorcrafts the next and all ??? the year after that year after year going through the different customer groups. As it is now, you want to buy brand new bungees (not something that might have been on a shelf somewhere in an unknown environment) you pay full freight for your set.
If it can be made to work, group buys are great, but it is up to US to get together and synchronize our replacement schedules. Not easy to do, but I would replace mine every 5 years (or whatever it works out to be) if we had a schedule and i am betting it wouldn't cost much more over the life of my ownership.
