    Re: Dunkirk

Just got home from it a few minutes ago. Don't believe the trash talk about it (no character development, no women or blacks.....What's with THAT? How many women and blacks do people think were at Dunkirk?!?!?!) It is very history based and LOUD!!! The characters ARE developed, but it isn't a romance novel. People you start to like are going to get killed. Some will make it, some won't. Go see it, I'm not going to spoil it.

The flying scenes are great and it is VERY hard to spot the models from the real full size planes. There are three original early Spitfires that I have seen before. Most of the 109 and Spitfire scenes are real piloted planes and you won't get the chance to see Mk-I Spits in a Vic formation often. There just aren't enough of them! They used VERY large models of the HE-111s that were so close to real I had to look VERY carefully to spot the details. If you have never had hands on the Spanish HE I defy you to spot the tell tales. (OK, I will tell you the models had realistic German engines unlike the Spanish Heinkels) VERY convincing! I saw videos of the Stukas used and it was really a shame they didn't get closer shots of them. Super realistic and convincing. If I didn't know there were no Stukas left of those marks I would have thought they were full size (they ARE big!!) The only aviation part I saw miss the mark was the use of Spanish 109s (post war manufacture 109Gs with British engines). The cowl was a dead give away from the front. If I was doing it, I would have used models there. Even the antique and classic yachts used for the evacuation were real period correct yachts. OUTSTANDING movie!

OK, spoiler alert.....they get the Tommies out!

      Re: Dunkirk

Even though I did not go yet, I immediately noticed the Buchon 109's in the trailers. Oh, well. Still looks like something I would want to go see. Thanks for the updates!
