Does anyone have any drawings for dimensions for the dolly's used on federal 1500 skis? I just got mine home from Alaska and would like to get them ready to install if and when I get my airplane flying again. tim

Perhaps these links might spark some ideas:

Our custom Alaskan manufactured Ski Dollies for use with Langis and Airglass skis.

I've used them but never owned a set...but only because they were always built by the owner and not commercially available. I need a set for my Aero 2000's so maybe someone will get into production. I guess it's a matter of having the correct axle or pedestal hole ID fit.

I made a set like the ones in the videos, using my main wheels since they weren't in use anyway. It worked ok, but I had to work pretty hard to cam them over. It slipped out of my hand once and clocked me a good one. I saw stars for a few minutes.

Then I decided that a roller system would work better for me, so this is what I came up with. I have some pics and a video that I could email to someone if interested. I'm just not smart enough to be able to load it on this site.

I made two rollers, each about 5feet long and 1 foot wide, that look like a ladder. The sides and rungs are from 1/2 inch conduit, the rollers are 3/4 inch conduit slid over the rungs before they are welded to the sides.

With the rollers on the hanger floor just behind the skis, as I push the plane into the hanger, the skis go onto the rollers and roll on the concrete till the plane is inside the hanger. To get it out again, just pull the plane out of the hanger, and as the skis get to the end of the rollers, they are on the snow outside the hanger.

It really works good as long as you are only moving the plane 8 or 10 feet straight back. If you need to maneuver it around in the hanger, this roller system isn't so good. For my situation, it worked great.

My use would be to elevate the skis above the ground to prevent accumulation of frost on the bottoms. Moving the plane off the lake ice in the spring to dry ground would be another.
