    Had mine checked yesterday. Found out the rear struts are ~.030 and the front are ~.049. Did all "46" leave the factory like this. The go no go is .020 total more than 1 sq.inch. I understand why the rear struts failure rate is higher than the front strut.

    Different age struts were different thickness and different major and minor axis dimensions. The difference in thickness could probably cause an earlier failure but none of us or anyone who ever remembers our names would still be alive. We and our planes will all be piles of dust first.
    The rear struts probably fail more from people putting their feet on them and bending them than anything else. Even worse is some idiot trying to lift one side of the plane from the middle of the strut!
