    Re: Floorboards

Somebody had put indoor/outdoor carpet in mine and it looked like crap..I pulled it out and painted it flat black. Looks good and doesn't hold sand/dirt.

      Re: Floorboards

My plane came with a ribbed door mat cut to fit just right over the floor boards. Works great, easy to clean.

        Re: Floorboards

Does anybody know what color the factory painted metal floorboards in 1946?

Flat black? The same as the main color of the airplane? The trim color?

My floorboards were dark blue before the restoration (and judging from some original paint hidden behind the panel, the plane may have originally been overall dark blue), so we painted them the AN Blue of the new trim. But now I'm questioning that...

when in 46? Most of the time the rudder pedals, and whole front end under the boot cowl was the base color or black, dark blue or even red on the Aces . It is all explained in the color brochures .

              Re: Floorboards

Forrest, my airworthiness certificate was issued May 23, 1946, so I'd guess my ship was painted in April or May.

              But me too: Color brochures?

                  Re: Floorboards

My floorboards are a couple of old road signs someone years ago borrowed and cut out and installed. Discovered this when doing a bungee replacement. One is a "Do not enter" and the other is a " Yellow crooked line that has shotgun pellet dents in it". Just something to look at and laugh at.

Yep they work great, my seat on my ultralight is mounted on an old road sign. Been there for several years with a lot of stress put through it at times, no cracks or permanent bends.
