Harry said he was going to wire me my money today.....And guess what ???? It is now in my account....

Puts back my faith in my fellow tribe members, knew most were honest, but have to admit, I was worried. Now on to my regular flying. Pretty much decided to keep the "Yellow Duck" and go from there.

However, if I can find a good deal on a "Sport Ready Aircraft" I wouldn't mind buying one for resale. Kevin (Crispy Critter) may have one comming up.

Also looking for a set of brake pedals for right side. Giving lessons to my Grand Kids and Son-In-Law. They are flying from the right side. (Altho, nothing wrong with that) However, I would like to get them to the left.

Will be starting my annual about the first of Feb. Figured I would install them then. Also in need of unshielded spark plugs. (where is best place to purchase? ) Think now I will add an in panel Com radio. Thinking about either the ICOM 200 or the Microair. Anyone have a better idea ?

That's great new Lee! Glad to hear it.

As far as radio's go, I've got an Icom 200 in my current ride and really like it. It's basically the same radio as the King KY97A.

Ah ha NOW we can say things are starting to look up. Great way to start the new year AND we all can feel much better. Like President Reagan once said TRUST but VERIFY. If ALL parties follow this I believe EVERYONE will be happy.I think we all now just want to see some airplanes ready to go to the showroom floor. Excuse me not just any old airplane but the greatest of all............

After much research, I have chosen the I-Com A200 TSO for Tami T-Craft's project. A picture of the makings of her panel is attached. The design emphasis was to make everything easily accessable and eliminate the wire jungle so common of portable installations, such as in my own Traci T-Craft. The headphone cords go to jacks on the front wall of the baggage compartment. There will be a 12v. power port mounted on the glare shield for the GPS, and a stereo jack in the right glove box for your I-Pod or CD player if desired.

The plan is to stay with a portable GPS because GPS technology is changing fast. I suggested to Harry that we should offer a similar less complex "Standard VFR Radio Package" as an option in addition to the "Delux VFR Radio Package" for our new models. Then a portable GPS of choice could be added.

As to the right side brakes, I highly recommend them and have incorporated them into the project. As weak as they are sometimes, it sure is nice for the instructor in the right seat to have the ability to stop the aircraft. My A/I did a nice job of fabricating them. Pics if you need them.

After much research, pulling of hair and nashing of teeth, I finally decided on a Valcom 760(tso'd) for my model 19. It only has 7 watts of output but with the Margolin antenna I talk to and receive stations between 50 & 100 miles away with no problems. And, I love the flip flop feature. It really is handy. I bought this one off of ebay, with the tray & harness, for $515.55(including shipping. I also have an AT50A transponder w/*encoder. Each measures 6 1/4 X 1 3/4 & I have them stacked on the left side where the glove box would be. The fit is tight but access is great!! You can buy a new Valcom(tso'd) for about $650. which includes the tray and harness.

I'm very happy with mine and others that have the Valcom seem to be satisfied with theirs.

CaptJon - could you please post a pic? I have no feel for how this might be accomplished except for a solution involving adding structural support to the right side to duplicate what you have on the pilot's side. - Mike

Great to hear about your trust being put back on the human race again. I used a UPS SL40 radio that has some great features like a build in intercom. talk about cutting on the wires and not having to carry additional intercom that you have to worry about batteries. I know that UPS aviation tech was sold to Garmin, but I believe they are still available. It will cost more but you will make it up in two years of batteries. Had the L2 up New Years day and since then not even ducks have been flying around here. Dan

Dan, your co-pilot looks good. Looks like he is about ready for solo.

Been working on my Hangar/Barn. Making another bay for one more aircraft. Keeping the Duck, but plan on buying another to fly and re-sell.

Per the requests for pictures of the right hand brake setup:
I purchased a right hand brake kit many years ago from the factory in Alliance....p/n 2646-1. The assembly bolts in place and looks very much like the left side. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow and post them. You might check with Harry at the factory and see if the kit is available.

Capt Jon has some good right-hand brake set-up photos on his Project Page But there are LOADS of photos (>200) there, so if you're not on broadband, ask him to email them to you.

And Garry Crookham has posted some photos here ... perhaps we can divert the "Right-Hand Brake" discussion there?
