  • Good Morning Vietnam !!!

Gee what a beautiful morning yesterday here in South Louisiana, Had to take a picture. (From my Kitchen window) My grass strip is directly on the side. Love flying early mornings with a little ground fog and just the top of the trees sticking out above. Burns off very quickly once the sun is up.

You guys up North, SUFFER ! Today will be 76 deg. light wind (5-10 mph from the SE) Perfect for T-Crafts. Also gotta change my oil today. (26 hrs since oil change)

Tried loading the pic. Can't ever get a pic loaded. I have tried all kind of way. If anyone knows how let me know, gonna try again.

Tried, couldn't do it. Need to get a webb site.

Lee, I hit the "Post Reply" button on the lower left of your original message...when the space for the message opened up...I entered the text message, then scrolled down and clicked "manage attachments". Then clicked the top "browse" button, which opened to my files; then I selected the picture I wanted to attach...then I hit "Open", which let the file appear to the left of the top "browse" area. Then I hit "Upload"...down below to the right. Be sure and "wait" until the warning telling you to wait disappears...then close the window. Your pix should be added to your comments on the list. Sorry to take so long to run through this. Dick

...and you need to ensure it isn't a huge photo (for the benefit of us dial-up folks) so keep the megawidgets to a suitable size!

            Re: Good Morning Vietnam !!!

I take the pictures on my didgital camera, as small as it allows and transfer them to my computer (my picture) .

I do not know how to make them smaller. I have tried all I know. (which isn't much and still nothing.

How do I make them smaller in size ?

              Re: Good Morning Vietnam !!!

You need to process the photos from your digital camera with some software, if the camera does not give you the options to keep the photo file size at a reasonable size (less than 100K Bytes).

a 5 x 7" image, 72dpi, .jpg format with medium compression will get you in under the size limit.

I use adobe photoshop, but its big and expensive and overkill for what you want to do. There are less expensive version of photo shop in the $50 range, sometimes they are included as add on software with a digital camera. There are other software packages out there, some free, some $35 to $50 or more.

One thing the software will let you do besides process the photo to a size you can use on the web, is to do adjustments of color and contrast much like you would have done in a darkroom with silverhalide photos. Sometimes using the automatic adjustments give a remarkable improvement in the image.

If you look at the message you get when you tell VB to upload your attachment, its probably telling you the image file is too big... Sometimes cameras can produce really huge files, like 1 to 3 mega bytes and if you are on a dial up it can take 10 to 30 minutes of trying to upload the monster before you get the error message. Check the file sizes of the images with windows explorer and see if they are within reason.

once you get a couple to post ok and figure out the ritual, its pretty easy to do. Like riding a bike for the first time...
