  • Clayton Skylight STC

    Hello everyone!

I've just received my STC SA661AL package from Greg. I think it's going to go in great! The instructions are well written and it only takes cutting the fabric (if you're not doing it as part of the rebuild as I am) and welding in four attachment bolts to the overhead cross tubes, shortening the stringers and moving the attaching brackets and replacing the rear former. The 1/8 inch plexiglass (I bought a 4X4 smoked piece from Aircraft Spruce) will need to be purchased. I can't wait until I can start it! Of course, a 337 signed off by an IA will need to be submitted to the FAA.

I just got off the phone with him (he is a wealth of T-craft knowledge) and asked if he would mind me posting his info to the list. He is recovering from an illness that had him down for a while, but seems to be fully recovered and is back into production with the STC kit.

    His phone is: 907-479-4125

His address is not correct as listed in the FAA STC listing. It is:
    P.O. Box 83794
    Fairbanks, AK 99708

The cost of the kit and STC was quite reasonable.

      Re: Clayton Skylight STC

The Clayton skylight has been everything I'd hoped for, making for a roomier feel, allowing a great view during steep turns, and exposing the trim cables for those times when only hands-on to the cables is warranted. I don't remember if the STC describes, for a rebuild, welding a couple tabs on the rear cross tube, similar to the front, to attach the rear former instead of the fabric wrap method, but I reminded myself to do that should the opportunity ever present itself.

Paul.... Any chance you could document the install with some pics and a little write up? I would be very interested in learning how things go. I'm sure there are others also interested.

          Thanks
