  • 2016 Central Texas Taylorcraft Fly-In

The date has been set for the 2016 Central Texas Taylorcraft Fly-In by the Fort Parker Gang... April 22-23-24, 2016. More info will follow as I get a chance to gather it all together. If you haven't been to Fort Parker Flying Field yet, you have missed a really nice destination and some great Taylorcraft comaraderie. So mark your calendars and be sure to come.

Again this will be combined with the Cessna 120-140 Ass'n. And we're planning to spread the word out to Cub, Luscombe and Aeronca folks as well. Perhaps we'll consider changing the name to the Central Texas Vintage Light Plane Fly-In.

Thought I would add website for Fort Parker Flying Field:

Terry.... Looks like the Ft. Parker people have already changed the name: Drag Your Tail In Fly-in

Re: 2016 Central Texas Taylorcraft Fly-In

Just registered couple days ago and I am interested in attending Cetral Tex event. 1.5 weeks ago I picked up my 46 BC12D-85 in Montana. It needs a recover job and came with new spars. I am looking for an experienced T crafter for a second opinion as to whether the need exists to change spars or not. No experience with wood spars forces me to seek help. As for covering, I was looking at the Stewart System with it's water borne coatings and was planning on using rivits instead of the stitching the wings currently have to hold the fabric. I live in NE Tex near Quinlan 75474. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks to all. JT.

            Hello JT,
I personally can't help you with your question, but welcome to the Taylorcraft Forum.

If you don't get a reply from the regulars here after a couple of days, either post the same question upon the main "Everyday Taylorcraft Discussion" page or send me a message and I will redirect your post to a wider audience.

              Hi JT,
Welcome to the tribe and congratulations on your new (?) Taylorcraft.
I'm planning on flying my '46 BC12D-85 ( just like yours) to the Central Texas event.
I recently recovered it using Stewart Systems. Hopefully I'll see you there and we can discuss the process.
And you'll be able to see the end result.

                J.T.
Welcome to the Taylorcraft Tribe! It will be nice to meet you at the Fly In.
Is your plane kept at Quinlan? Will you be flying to Ft Parker?
We will be coming from near San Antonio.
                Best Regards,
                Mark Julicher

                  ALERT!

Central Texas Fly in at Ft Parker is CANCELLED for this week end

The runway is flooded and the owner of the airport says it is too soft to be safe. When Terry gets back in town we will see about a rain date, but nothing is set for now.
                  Best Regards,
                  Mark Julicher
