It will be interesting to see what the IA says in two months. I would feel ok with it if I can fly it for the next two months, and then just cover it with what I am used to , if he busts it. Both the A&P, and the IA will let me cover it, and sign my work off, they have seen what I can do with Randolfs. For me, it would be the time, more than an enormous outlay of cash.
The last Super Cubs built by Piper were covered with Blue River. Piper had to recover every one of them. The finish started to come off. BR put Piper OUT of the fabric covered airplane business.
Get a new IA, its either legal or not. If its still sticking and the UV that is bleeding through has not deteriorated the fabric, you are good. Tim
PS I would also stay away from Ceconite for the flammability reasons, I am partial to stits until I know more about the stewart system. I also don't recommend using any polyurethane topcoat, only the polytone, that way its easy to repair. JMHO
Why I'm planning on recovering with Randolf. (SAFELY, of course, with a respirator, not just a mask). I don't think that the IA will let me fly the plane with the crazed topcoats, so I have two more months, that's all, and I will have to recover the plane, even though the FABRIC is FINE.
