Perhaps you should check the A-65 T.C.data sheet, It adresses the -12 model

this is all so informative thanks to all, I did check the Mooney Mite web site and there are several Mooney Mites with A65-12 engines installed , so I would say that it does exist.

        Well sort of.

Has anyone actually ever seen a Mooney Mite?

Are we sure that they exist?

          Re: A65-9

I have seen these engines and they are very similar to a C series. If you know what to look for, the cylinders are a dead give-away. They were only installed in the Deluxe models of the Mite, where I saw it. It's a pretty rare engine and not installed in many aircraft,so it's not too uncommon to find people that have not heard of them.

            Unique aircraft.

Unfortunately, there is an AD that is quite in depth re glue joints.

Related to Culver & Dart as well.

Had some dealings with these plus a 20A.

All the parts should have part numbers, and a cross reference of which parts are common to A-65 and A-75 is in the parts manual.

Yes, they exist. Over the last 50 years I've had the pleasure of flying several Mites. The one I flew the most, N476M, was powered by an A65-12. There is a list of Mites and the engines installed at: http://www.mooneymite.com/register.htm.

                    Garry,

I had not realized how few were made. Between 300 and 400 as I recall that list.

I have seen maybe two or three on the east coast since 1968.

Had not realized the glue joint AD's but it makes sense.

This is what i thought they did

NOTE 8. Model A-65-12 differs from A-65-8 only in that C-75-12 type crankcase and accessories section are incorporated. they used a case from a C model to build it.
