  • F-model owners; AD 50-41-01

Well, Forum traffic has been light over the last few days, here's another poser to post-B model owners.

You may recall that I posted an Airworthiness Directive issue with our F21 a few weeks back: well here's on on our F22:

AD50-41-01 requires some action to correct possible interference between the elevator horn bolt and the fin inspection plates. Our four B models here at Leicester comply, but our 1989 F22, which is of course not required to comply, does not, in fact, comply. The inside surfaces of the cover plates show evidence of interference (no dangerous situation occurs...yet).

Just for you F19, 20, 21, 22 and post-1950-built-aircraft owners, next time you see your IA, get them to check out the AD requirement and then check the inside surfaces of the fin inspection plates.

I shall copy this missive privately to a certain owner of a certain Manufacturer, so that he will be aware.

At the factory when they built the F-19 it applied then got dropped somehow... YES do check for interference it is only common sense to see that all controls are "free & correct". I HAVE seen a ship that the bolt & nut wore throught the rear inspection palte and the elevator could not be broght back for landing.....
